GPS clock-in verification for field crews

Confirm that a crew member was at the worksite when they clocked in. Gates checks the phone's location once, at clock-in, with the employee's permission. It does not track anyone during the shift.

A location check at the moment that matters

When an employee taps Clock in, the browser asks to share their location. Gates compares it with your worksites and records whether the punch was inside the worksite. If the employee is on site, the worksite is filled in automatically.

The location is used for that one punch. There is no live map, no breadcrumb trail and no tracking between punches.

Managers see the result in review

Punches outside a worksite are flagged for the manager during timesheet review, alongside missed punches and late arrivals.

What to know before you rely on it

The employee has to allow location access in their browser. Accuracy depends on the phone and its signal. Kiosk punches and manager edits do not capture location, and offline punching is not available.

Questions from small teams

Does Gates track employees all day?

No. Location is checked once, when the employee clocks in, and only against your company's worksites.

What if someone refuses location access?

That depends on your company setting. You can ignore location, flag punches without it for review, or require it for geofenced worksites.
